Flower Arrangement: November 13, 2010

Flowers: Kale, Hydrangea, Carnations and RanunculusI made another visit to one of my favorite places in San Francisco this weekend – the flower mart. After wandering around looking for inspiration for about 20 minutes (and dragging my poor husband around behind me), I found myself drawn to the various types of kale over any of the actual flowers on sale.

Kale is certainly one of the healthiest vegetables out there to eat, but it’s also a very beautiful and robust element to add to flower arrangements. Ideally, I would have bought some roses to replace the carnations, but I couldn’t find them in a color as vibrant as these guava-colored carnations. When contrasted with the white of the hydrangeas, I chose a yellow pop of ranunculus to finish off the arrangement.

Feel free to check out more photos of this flower arrangement in my album on Flickr.
